The species is best characterized as female-centered and egalitarian and as one that substitutes sex for aggression. Whereas in most other species sexual behavior is a fairly distinct category, in the bonobo it is part and parcel of social relations--and not just between males and females. Bonobos engage in sex in virtually every partner combination (although such contact among close family members may be suppressed). And sexual interactions occur more often among bonobos than among other primates. Despite the frequency of sex, the bonobos rate of reproduction in the wild is about the same as that of the chimpanzee. A female gives birth to a single infant at intervals of between five and six years. So bonobos share at least one very important characteristic with our own species, namely, a partial separation between sex and reproduction.
Humans: worst of both worlds! Violence AND promiscuity!
What if it wasn't either? What would that world look like? I try to picture a world where we all get along and resolve conflict via communication. My preference would not to rub my genitals together with random people lol. My comment on the bonobos would be that our society can be anything and we as humans have decided that being nasty and brutish protecting our “property” from its forcefully takeover.
I agree. We're more sophisticated than we seem to think. The key is to push sociopaths out of power because they tend to project their insecurities and limitations onto everyone. We're so much better than our leaders
Leadership is a Catch 22 its best suited for those who do not want it. I like Bitcoin because it allows for a new paradigm to start. The thought experiments need to continue here as one day they might become thought actions.
I’ll be nasty and brutish as a last resort in response to force in certain situations, but otherwise 💯 To picture a world where we relate like humans, not like either chimps or bonobos, probably consider most of your everyday interactions. Consensual; pleasant; respectful; mindful of other’s rights, personhood, boundaries, and desires; personally responsible; socially egalitarian To picture a world where we relate like humans are meant to, go beyond this to consider the happiest family you can: inspiring, deeply loving and caring, generous, thoughtfully considerate
Sounds like a civil society

Thank you, I have read Diamonds work previously but not that one I will have to take a look
