my personal interpretation is that primal and the other "trending feed" clients are the main cause of this

not really much that can be done about it even if it is damaging the variety and onboarding, maybe we should put together some concise and cogent points for @miljan and the other "tredning feed" client devs to understand that they are making the curve into a hockey stick?
