If I keep up with this low carb high fat Paleo-ish thing I'm doing, it looks like groceries will be close to $200 a week. Just for me, not including other groceries for my wife.
...wtf
There’s a growing premium on nutrition that is lowkey worrisome
Yes exactly. I'm not about to stop doing this and let my health degrade.
It feels like an attack.
That’s how I view it. It’s up to us to overcome this
 It is.

Get a freezer. Buy a half or quarter beef at a time.
 👆
Alright youve got a massive quarter of beef, frozen. Now you want to cut some off to cook this week. How do you do that?
Or do you thaw the whole thing once, butcher it all down and then re-freeze the portions?
 It depends on you.

You can order the cuts you want from many local butchers. They pack it and freeze it. You pick it up. Otherwise, you'll have to step way outside of my area if expertise when it comes to butchering.
When you buy a 1/2 or 1/4 of a beef, it is with the understanding that it will be processed into the cuts you want at a butcher shop. Picking it up as a whole piece is possible, but any butcher will ask appropriate questions to make sure you are not getting yourself into more work than you anticipate.
duh, I guess that makes sense now that I'm hearing it... I have a few local grass-fed beef sources - I'll just go talk to them and see what a deal would look like. Thanks!
That’s why you do intermittent fasting and eat one meal a day 😂
Lol! I do intermittent fasting 16:8. But there's still a caloric and macronutrient reality per day, whether it's one meal or 5 :/
I know! Just being silly. I gave up on paleo and eat mostly veggies and meat but also rice, breads, beans. I figure I exercise enough to keep the carbs from wrecking me and it’s cheaper.
ive experienced the same when attempting to eat local farm goods only. the premium between it and grocery store shit has gotten wider in the past 5 years, empirically and anecdotally to me. and that is on top of the price floor for all food rising!
We won't let them starve us or turn us into fat unhealthy drones, dependent on state gruel.
I'm on the less calories diet, bc it's cheaper
Damn, my weekly bill is usually no more than 70. Gr beef, eggs, apples, bananas, potatoes and raw milk. Boring but cost effective and does the job
You need to prepare better bro 🌞
Decentralized food. Find your regenerative biodynamic Farmer. You wanna know him personally and add value to them… buy a freezer, buy a cow, buy a lamb, make your own tallow… find other small businesses that have what you want sharing those values buy from them kill big food!
Decentralize the food supply!
I try to buy as much locally as I can (lots of good options here, especially in summer). Typically more expensive that way but it feels better
