 Hey Tanja,

I've been on for 9 months now to manage my autoimmune disease, ankylosing spondylitis, and I'm mostly symptom free with it and with no medication.

Can't eat too much dairy, except a bit off butter and hard cheese, nor eggs without symptoms, so I'm almost meat only (except few plant ingredients every now and then which I tolerate).

There's not too many things to worry about except folate (vit B9) for some. I most likely got deficient in it, so if you start to experience fatigue, diarrhea or headaches after the adjusting period, add some chicken liver, lamb and fish to up folate intake.

When it comes to starting, you may drop vegetables little by little if you want a smooth transition period, although I had no problems starting straight cold turkey, though it wasn't a drastic change to begin with, was on autoimmune paleo before that.

When it comes to running, it may vary whether you can perform on ketosis or if you need carbs, but adapting to fat burning will take a while, so I'd give that some time, a few months before judging if full on ketosis is for you. Talking of which, don't fear to add some extra fat on every meal :)

Good luck!
Thank you for sharing this! Yes, my most fear is actually the body reaction but I believe I will find out and do a smooth transition as my body hasn’t had any meet in probably 20 years …
