there’s a guy on insta who did an experiment to eat raw chicken for 100 days in a row until he got a stomach ache and never did 🤔
I mean that’s impressive but also nasty… did he at least season the raw chicken..??
 He did not

https://www.instagram.com/rawchickenexperiment
 But did he gain followers?

I eat a lot of raw beef, and drink the steak blood. Never gotten sick. I do trust my butcher a lot. I don't trust the grocery store butchers.
Day 94 of the chicken and brain bbq sandwich…. My goodness.
pretty sure he was eating organic/free range chicken.
I saw that but didn’t know if he actually survived lmao and people won’t even try liver
 That's kinda crazy.
I mean, obviously you're better off cooking the chicken, but I think that the human stomach is pretty capable of dealing with it then.
I saw people on X making the case that every other mammal doesn’t need to burn their food to eat it. They probably have a point but our digestive systems are probably not accustomed to handle a bunch of it
 We've devolved in that regard...
 wtf😂
Bacteria collects very fast on raw chicken. Chickens don't always live in a clean environment & they have many parasites. Sometimes the bugs are extremely nasty. If you eat from a healthy chicken & right after it's killed you have the best chance of not getting sick.
 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
 Ever had blue cheese?
 Not into it
 It's basically cheese plus bacteria.

Not sure if you've ever seen the "blue cheese had mold in it" song https://youtu.be/HmadzQ1uL0s?si=88dA5uJquSngXxEo
 Still don't trust it
I used to wonder how humans knew if you could consume something. Seems this guy volunteered to explain how

There are people who follow a strictly raw diet. I do not but I know a lot of people who follow the raw diet recommend reading We Want to Live by Aajonus Vonderplanitz. Maybe one day I will read it.
I’ve eaten 1000+ raw eggs and have never gotten sick. I literally have 4-6 raw eggs in my smoothie every morning.
It is a very well known fact that eating raw eggs is acceptable (e.g. mayonnaise) but raw chicken is not.
People trying to reinvent the wheel of gastronomy is crazy to me.
Mayonnaise is safe because the acidity is sufficiently high that the pathogenic bacteria we're worried about can't grow.

A 100 day experiment isn't very long. The figures I've heard for salmonella % in chicken is on the order of 0.1% Good chance he never even encountered it.

Also depending on where you are, producers are required to vaccinate their chickens against salmonella. That makes raw chicken even safer to eat. Similar measures in North America for pigs have made undercooked, and even raw, pork pretty safe to eat; it didn't used to be.
This stuff varies per person anyway. We do after all have immune systems, and in most people they work pretty well. Especially if you've had prior exposures to pathogens you're encountering again, and have recovered.

Sickness varies per person too. I've done strenuous long distance hikes with, sufficie to say, "stomach trouble" and survived just fine. Other people who are in even worse shape than me wouldn't have done so well. I also have a pretty high tolerance for things sucking before I really complain, at least while hiking. 😂
I don't think the tradition of never eating raw chicken has to do with salmonella at all, it's just terrible for your digestion.
And mayonnaise was only an example, I've eaten raw eggs with sugar for breakfast for years, it's delicious.
No, it's because of salmonella. In chickens infected with salmonella, unlike other animals, the salmonella is present in the flesh itself. And it's pretty common for chickens to be infected.
May well be it. I personally hate the consistency of raw chicken. Maybe instinctively we evolved to hate it because of salmonella.
Raw fish? No problem, raw beef? Yummy. But I cannot swallow raw chicken and I generally ask my money back wherever they serve me that thing (it's happened a couple of times!)
Eggs are protected by a shell and a membrane, so germs don't easily get in. But chicken was processed at a plant, where germs are likely introduced. Unless he was buying whole chicken...
 i buy it
especially if acclimated slow enough & good butcher chicken
The source of the chicken matters
 chicken are garbage nutritionally
 Gross.

I guess he could have a tiny but if raw chicken eat very little raw chicken in a 100 days. But why would anyone do that?!? Sounds terrible.
I was following a diet some years ago where I only ate raw meat for almost a year and my stomach actually felt great during the time. However, I only ate chicken a couple of times during that time. Raw chicken does not taste good.
