You can zap such little amounts that it hardly constitutes value. So you can't like it all that much if all you are willing to do is tap a useless like button. You can set different zap amounts to different levels of liking something. If you read the entire post, then it probably wasn't made for you. If you run around posting about how great zaps are for engagement, then it is for you.
You also said that likes are fiat. I disagree. Not everyone in the beginning had Bitcoin to spend. People will react, as they want, as sovereign people, without anyone saying otherwise. Why are your standards so elitist?
You can disagree. That doesn't mean the post was for you if you didn't meet the other criteria. They're fiat in my opinion, just like everything in this note is my opinion.

You can show them you saw their note with the zap button too. But that's really beside the point of this post. You're ignoring most of the note where I made it clear who I'm talking to here.
I don’t see it that way. People use social media or anything for that matter in different ways. Shaming someone for saying they are larping for not zapping is lame. You don’t know that they don’t zap other notes. You can like 90% of notes and zap the other 10% for things you found truly valuable. You can also “like” as a read receipt - acknowledging that you heard them. If you don’t like that, that’s fine, but people will use that however they wish. There is no one way. I’m not a fan of any kind of shaming people into my desired way of doing things. The same goes for using paid products instead of open source alternatives.

I think the like is pointless
Depending on the client the "Like" button is so much more than that. I can 🤦🏼 (like I did your note) or 🤔 or 😊 or 🫂 or any number of other things. I use it to express my feelings on something I don't think warrant a full reply. I zap a fair amount, but I don't think every note I want to acknowledge deserves sats.
