You keep misrepresenting me in every reply I've seen. I'm not talking to any of the people you keep bringing up. I'm saying that people are larpers IF they use zap hype for engagement yet don't actually zap. That's literally the definition of larping. I'm not shaming anyone other than people who meet THAT description. You are projecting your own meaning onto my post. Yes, I think the like button is garbage. No, I don't think everyone else has to agree or be shamed UNLESS they are larping for engagement.

I've more than cleared up my meaning at this point in other replies but: Yes, I could probably have been more clear, but I thought I was at the time. It's hard to know until you get feedback. Yes, I agree that not everyone fits the bill that I tried to make clear in this post, but may have failed at. No, this post is not for a specific person. It's a general post. Yes, I think the like button is useless. No, not everyone must agree. Yes, people can use both, but they also wouldn't fit my intended audience. No, not EVERYTHING I find useless is fiat. That's an over the top meme that should go away. I'll grant that (someone else mentioned it). Totally own that one. No, my intention was not to shame people who aren't essentially engagement farming. I could have made that a lot more clear probably, but I thought I did. You can show them you saw their note with the zap button too. But that's really beside the point of this post. You're ignoring most of the note where I made it clear who I'm talking to here.
I don’t see it that way. People use social media or anything for that matter in different ways. Shaming someone for saying they are larping for not zapping is lame. You don’t know that they don’t zap other notes. You can like 90% of notes and zap the other 10% for things you found truly valuable. You can also “like” as a read receipt - acknowledging that you heard them. If you don’t like that, that’s fine, but people will use that however they wish. There is no one way. I’m not a fan of any kind of shaming people into my desired way of doing things. The same goes for using paid products instead of open source alternatives.
