I’m on day 14 of the 16 day cleanse I started.

It’s about 900-1200 calories a day, mostly raw vegetables and black coffee 😂

No salt, seasonings or sauces. Lots of dry salad, lots of grapefruit and 4-5 eggs a day.

I went through the full emotional rollercoaster doing this, I woke up depressed one morning about 6 days in.

“Why the hell am I doing this!?”

I am working out 7 days a week as well, lifting weights and doing HIIT and yoga. I almost passed out multiple times at the gym in the first week, but my body has adapted and I’m even making rep gains on the cleanse.

This was more of a mental challenge than a health challenge.

2 days left and I’m starting to see abs which is kind of mind blowing to me … I never thought I would have defined abs.

I thought I had too much stomach fat.

In 2010 I started exercising for the first time in my life and did P90X 3 times in a row and lost 40-50 lbs, that was my peak fitness level around 160 lbs.

Over the last decade I yo-yo’d up and down between 190-165, mostly sitting around 175-180 … gaining weight then losing it to make sure I never got back to my peak fatness.

I’m about to surpass my peak fitness level now at 41, and it feels surreal.

The next 3 mths is a muscle building phase.

My goal body is within reach.

Proof of work 💪

 much respect. keep it up!
What’s the benefit of cutting out seasonings? Just seeing how your body reacts?
Proof of work - no doubt.

Be sure you get enough protein, especially if you are working out. I did a similar 'proof of work' but cut out seed oils, wheat, and sugar. Mostly protein based with some veggies. Went from 270 to 170 without really dieting - I eat a lot! Many other health benefits showed up too.

Some of the best summarized research I have read lately is from Georgia Ede. Another good follow is Nina Teicholz, who is an investigative journalist turned health researcher. She's done some great work (second link is a talk done 10 years ago).

You have much soreness beyond muscle recovery? joint or ligament pain?
Without enough protein, 5 eggs /35g is very low, the weightlifting will just destroy more muscle tissue that the body can repair. Is losing muscle mass also part of the plan?
Make sure you’re getting 130-150 grams of quality protein per day otherwise your body will pull it from your muscles.
We do need the Salt. 6 gram of Sodium Chloride a day on average. There’s good reason people risked their lives crossing deserts for Salt.

The “Keto flu” a few days in on low carb is because we stop retaining it and start peeing it out causing Orthostatic Hypotension which results in light headedness when standing, headaches and a general feeling of weakness and low mood.

Keep all your electrolytes up and I found it’s much easier to fast or stay low carb.
This just published study should be of interest to you

Very positive about the effect of Ketosis on the kidneys
