 I'm in really fucking good shape and I do neither.  I WALK and BIKE ratarded amounts of miles.  Bad ankles.

 No, youve just given up on physio & strengthening your ankles.

Bicycle good, but doesn't replace low impacting jogging. 
 I'm considering this 
 Commit to an ankle rehab program that includes tibialis raise & if you can get into a PT office that has a zero gravity treadmill that will help you alot!
