Nostr UX is already better than many of the giant apps.

Content is the thing that makes the giant apps more interesting. You can make up for a lot of crappy UX with super interesting content.

Of course, what most of us consider to be good content is very different from the rest of the world.
 Yes, agree.
What makes you think nostr ux is better than Instagram and Twitter?
 I’ve tested them
I mean you still can't take pics or videos in app, which ig has. And there's not a good way to catch the notes I missed from certain accounts without going directly to them, which Twitters algo corrects for.
What app are you using? You can do the first one in most. Uploading more than one photo at a time however… lol but that’s coming!
Show me a single nostr app that let's you take the picture in the app, and not simply upload from your gallery
 Damus
Was about to say this 😝
Really? Hm, I don't have iPhone but good to know that got added!
 Amethyst doesn’t?
 Nope
Maybe ask if @Vitor Pamplona can add ?
I will try again. On Android, the in-app camera is always worse than the Google/Samsung variants. So, even if I add, it's likely no one will use anyway.
Twitter in 2009, when I initially joined, didn’t even have its own app. I used a third party app for several years. So it wasn’t ux that brought/kept me there. I still joined though, because it had the content I wanted (at that time, post from my friends).
which app? I've yet to see one that actually looks good
UI? That’s up for debate. Everyone has their own preference for what “looks good” means. I personally think Damus looks best, but others may not agree.
any recommendations for android, linux or web apps?
None for web. I can’t speak for all web clients since I don’t use them all, but the ones that pass the visual test for me personally, are too unstable and buggy to recommend. Simple mode or whatever it’s called on Amethyst looks good on Android (but I don’t use android much)
Yes, we all have our interests.

Apps on Nostr have to make finding the content you like easier with better search, better and easier tagging, better and easier geo connectivity if a use desires more local connectivity. Platforms have done this with their algorithms alongside all of the bad stuff the algos bring. We need the good stuff without the bad stuff. I’ve been here for a while now and still feel alone because my friends are elsewhere. I need better onboarding of my non-tech friends.
Haha was just going to say, I never found the content over there very interesting but I think maybe what I like is weird. I find it here 💜
Instagram and TikTok content can be very addicting, even if purely for dopamine value. But yeah, what we choose to spend time on here is different from what people choose to spend time on over there.
Absolutely. I think the difference is exactly that. Choice. Once you realize that choosing to spend time on social media is important, things change. Rather than relying on it for the dopamine, to combat boredom, etc., if you CHOOSE to use it and the content is useful and leads to interesting relationships, social can be productive, enjoyable and not necessarily addictive…
Absolutely. So much of the so called social media is actually not social. People scroll endlessly without hardly interacting with anything they consume. This feeds addiction and many don’t know they are addicted, or know and ignore
Everyone has different interests. There should be a large variety. I always joke with my friends about how we’re on completely different internets, because even while using the same platforms, we see such different things.
 Haha for sure!
Trying to post some photography to bring the IG-vibe

Real engagement is what makes #Nostr better than the giant apps
Yep. I like the culture here. People speak their minds and can disagree without getting shunned forever. Twitter felt very fake, even with nice people around me. It’s as if everyone was trying really hard to put up a facade. I know they were because they’d be different people in private coms.
Twatter is just about followers and likes

#Nostr is genuine engagement because most of us love being here, on a cutting edge protocol
 Bingo
do you know of any clients that let you not see images & videos? I just want text.
amythest says it has the option but it doesn't work well.

thanks. a normal feed with no pics is what I'm really after but this is a pretty good second option 🙂
