6,378 legal orders in 2023 feels like DOS attack

I have no idea what it’s like to run an email company, but that’s a huge burden. https://image.nostr.build/f5499a4ed63df29729fa2e786fcc5f40c8a367690aa4f6948715b993a8279307.jpg nostr:note1n0ha2y9zfhnf2x3gquah9e52t5kfh2dxgzqurcs7f079hk5tpwnqkmu7sr
The steelman case for Proton is that looks like most legal orders for info do not result in arrests, showing that what they have is not that valuable in the first place. In the few instances it leeds to an arrest, it's news.

People should not use email at all for sensitive stuff or if they want anonymity. Email nowadays should be just to use services that require one.
 I agree.

i worry that bitcoin as a protocol could suffer the same fate.

That even if you want to act privately - you have to interact with people that don’t - so it’s all for nothing.
