Bitcoin Twitter is making a ton of noise about purchasing shares of MicroStrategy. Can someone explain all the hype? Should I buy MSTR? What am I missing? Call me old fashioned, but I think Bitcoin on its own is enough. I’m not seeing why I need to buy Bitcoin and MSTR at the same time? Would love to here takes for and against MSTR! #asknostr #bitcoin #mstr #microstrategy
MSTR is basically a leveraged bitcoin ETF
And this is good or bad?
Depends. It's more risky than buying bitcoin, but it's better if you're bullish. MSTR is also a company, so some people might prefer it over bitcoin. I'm not sure exactly what they do, I think they sell servers or something. And I'm not sure how profitable they are, but I haven't heard anything bad about the company. Personally, I find leveraged ETFs to be too risky, but MSTR isn't exactly a leveraged ETF. It's safer than a leveraged ETF because it is an actual company.
I’m bullish but don’t have a ton of extra capital lying around to make additional moves. The extra money I have goes into Bitcoin. ETFs and MSTR just seem like paper Bitcoin to me. The difference is there’s a Bitcoiner behind MicroStrategy who’s done a lot for the Bitcoin space which inclines me to believe in MSTR.
I'm quite bearish, but MSTR is good if you're bullish. You're right, MSTR is essentially paper bitcoin, but it is also much better than a bitcoin ETF. Most people should just buy bitcoin, unless they are extremely bullish.
Thanks for the insight!
He's only a "Bitcoiner" insofar as he uses Bitcoin as a tool to accumulate USD.
To buy more Bitcoin though. He’s arguably the most bullish Bitcoiner there is.
Keep it simple. Buy real food. Buy the corn. 🌽
Those are my thoughts. But I have a little FOMO. If I can make some profit to buy more Bitcoin or pay some debt, then I want to consider MSTR.
anytime you see a stock has 6x'd bitcoin during a massive bullrun...i think you should know the answer is not to start buying now 🤙
Why? Because it’s not meant to last or a crash is coming?
i dont know, but it sounds like your chasing gainz after the stock is up like 2000% in the past 90 days.
I can say with confidence I only chase Bitcoin. I have questions about MSTR and am curious about it.
MSTR is expensive and if you buy it you need to trust its management. Bitcoin is what it is and you need trust no one except yourself.
Well said. Thanks for this!
Yep. Plus, I bet mstr isn't going to be anti-state or anti-banks, like BTC is.
Does MSTR pay dividends in BTC? If not, why would you bother. There's an unreasonable amount of hype around Saylor. So, he's worked out how to leverage the power of Bitcoin against the flaws in tradfi as a way to make more fiat. So what. He's still stuck in the Wallstreet paradigm. Bitcoin is about so much more than fiat number go up.
Just as an fyi, the point of saylors play is to increase the amount of btc per share over time. So perhaps striktly speaking he does not pay dividents in BTC; the point is also not to 'make more fiat'.
That’s the impression I’m under. So what’s the point of the stock for the purchaser then? If there’s no dividends, what’s the point of buying stock in MSTR?
Because that stock repressents more btc over time (that is the plan atleast); so if you think btc will go up over time, your stock will go up even more🤷♂️.
But shareholders don’t get dividends in Bitcoin or Fiat. So you would need to sell the stock in order to profit in Fiat? Or own a share to borrow against it?
Dont know if mstr stock gives divident. But yes you would sell or use it as colleteral i guess. To be clear, i dont own anything, know nothing and above all dont advice anything. :)
A quick internet search says it doesn’t pay out dividends. I don’t own anything either. I just wanted to talk about MSTR and understand better because I am not a stocks guy.
But you could sell the stock and profit, no? That profit could then go into buying more Bitcoin or paying down debt, like in my case. Why do you say unreasonable? Genuinely curious.
Saylor is exploiting the unfair fiat system. As a company he has access to very low interest rates, he takes loans against the stock and buys Bitcoin. As long as Bitcoin increases in value against the loan, he can buy more Bitcoin with more loans. To wreck him, they would have to raise interest rates to a level that would crush the economy. As long as the fiat Ponzi continues MSTR keeps growing. Plebs don't have access to interest rates as low as MSTR, so will be priced out. This is the current fiat system for all assets. Saylor a exploit, especially if it catches on hastens the end of fiat, but will result in Bitcoin being accumulated disproportionately by the current oligarchs. I prefer a gradual transition away from debt based money to equity by holding Bitcoin without debt.
