Check out the color on these pawpaws! I thought they were supposed to be white inside? ✨💛nutrition💛✨ #breakfastchain #pawpaws #grownostr https://image.nostr.build/3ffeeedaf6f881fc749e9478bb145d7277bbd1c7996d7a06284f4c17a17d2720.jpg
I have never heard of a pawpaw before. I saw your harvest photo and I thought it was a local name for green mangoes. they do look like it inside as well except for the number of seeds. What does it taste like?
Some people say they have a mango flavor note, but I think it’s overwhelmingly like a combination of banana and cherimoya or soursop. There’s a lot of variety, too. One of these is a little savory and has a cherry note, and the other is maybe a little vanilla-like.
You may want to plan a trip to the southeastern U.S./Canada for when these are in season! You’re unlikely to be able to try them otherwise, as they don’t keep or ship well. I think some states have a pawpaw festival which would probably be a good bet!
Amazing. How do they taste?
Like a tropical explosion 😂 Cherimoya x banana with occasional cherry, vanilla, or savory notes. This is probably the sweetest food my baby has ever tried; she only had a banana for the first time last week. She clearly LOVES pawpaw.
We planted 2 this year. Hoping they survive the winter.
What’s a pawpaw, lovely? 🫂💜
It’s the fruit of a tree native to my area that tastes very tropical and delicious. Because they don’t keep or travel well, you have to find them yourself or know someone who has them; they’re not commercially available. They’re related to soursop and cherimoya if you know what those are. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asimina_triloba
acho que isso não é mamão!
Right, not papaya; pawpaw https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asimina_triloba
