I should have waited several days. Oh well.

 What is that thing?
 A lottery ticket
Oh, it's like a chance to win a Bitcoin or something?
 550 GH/s of a chance to mine a block. Or I guess point at a pool 🤔

We shall see. This is more for my curiosity into an area I haven't dabbled than anything.
 Cool.
I believe it is a "solo" miner, so it can't join a pool :/

Still very cool, and I'll probably pick one up.

Good luck, my friend.
You can point your hash at something like braiins pool for lightning payouts but it'll be like... 30 sats a day if the difficulty remains stagnant 😂🤷
So I've heard. I haven't actually gotten a hold of one yet.
Gotcha. I'm just scraping the surface of the vast mining knowledge, at this point, so I'm only regurgitating the marketing info.

Makes sense that miners have found a away to make some consistent sats/day with it.

Thanks for clarifying. It definitely makes it a little more appealing :)

Ok, dang, I need to do some more research!
It's not just bitaxe, since it's open source there are other versions I think. Nerdaxe(?) or you can even build your own...

But.

That's not me anytime soon.
Open-source, low-power bitcoin miner that is relatively cheap. It's hash rate is respectable given the small investment to run one. But, the chance of siccessfully mining a block is like winning the lottery. One did just mine a block, so it can be done, though.
 Hmm, for just $150?
And, just pennies a day to run. It claims to be plug and play right out of the box. Pretty tempting.
I'm not a miner, but I've been looking into it, a little.

The Avalon Nano 3 also looks like a good alternative for a low cost setup. It gets into the more competitive TH/s rates and can join mining pools for just about 2x the cost of the Bitaxe.

I think it also comes with some kind of voucher that helps with onboarding to a pool.

Me either, I did watch a few things on the Avalon though, but it seemed a bit much for me right now. I think for the hobby/lottery/decentralized ethos once I saw the bitaxe I saw something I could sit on top of my desktop tower under my desk at work. Just to mess around with. I'm not expecting to mine a block.

My shitty node can at least still verify my transactions if I mess it up.
 Exactly 🫡
