How would sell or convince the idea of Monero to the general public. What overall advantages or disadvantages would they have?
low fees, more stable prices, easier to use than L2
No need to sell or convince…
When the bitcoiner is ready #monero will apear
What in the horses mind will convince him to drink?

It needs to be relatively simple to understand and trust. Needs to be verifiably to help gain that trust. Once the people truly understand fiat, they will become skeptical and maybe even black pilled.

"Just do it" would make a horrible plan. Might need something more convincing for the general public.
Get Garnet so I can tip in Monero.
Thanks. You can use my #nostr address (NIP-05) as an #openAlias to send #monero
Money needs to be fungible. Money needs to be private to be fungible. Once you understand this Monero sells itself.

Bitcoiners will never hardfork to add privacy to Bitcoin so it will never be fungible. They will tell you to use L2 or else have fun staying poor. Thats their answer to everything.

Just my 2 cents
 BIP 352
Silent payments does not make the transaction private.

Once you make a payment the address is exposed to the sender. Thats not privacy. Thats a prison sentance.
 What? Really?
Then what is it good for?
Say you want to raise money on your website or have a publc link for people to pay you in bitcoin. Before you would put up your address but anyone can come along like a peeping Tom and see how much has been donated.

With silent payment they cant. BUT once they make a payment or a donation in this case, they can just look up the transaction they made in Mempool to see the destination address.
So if the people use Monero and the government is made up of the people, then Monero is good enough for the government?

Wouldn't that make it difficult for the people to audit? Somebody's going to end up with a golden shitter at their house.
FTX was printing bitcoin and nobody noticed.

Can you audit the Gov now? Do you want people auditing you? Would you want a live cam in your house if biden puts one in his?

Gov will print dollars not monero. Thats what they are used to doing. They might buy monero without you knowing though.

The supply of monero is auditable by the way. You can see the total supply just not who owns it.
I look at Monero as an "Oh shit" solution to Bitcoin for the most part.
 Fair enough.
 1) the government is not the people. It's made up of people, not *the* people.

2) Monero supply is audited with a range proof. Off chain "paper" coins can't be audited no matter what blockchain youre using. See "proof of reserves" hullabaloo with regard to centralized exchanges.
But, yes, I agree with you
