I believe that the economy still feels tough for many people because the cost of living is still high relative their incomes, even if inflation is trending down. But what Brooks did here appears to be intellectually dishonest, a lapse of journalistic ethics in the service of a political cheap shot.

@32c63b34 Income inequality is why people feel this way. The economy as a whole is in pretty good shape, but the GOP led shrinking of the middle class means that fewer people than ever are feeling the effects.

@32c63b34 Even if he was trying to make a genuine point in good faith, neither he nor any politician he supports have any plans to actually address the problem of runaway inflation. It's pretty much just a pretext for another round of tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy few.
