@669563d8 @ec56c728 in Canada, there are limits in how much coin you can pay with, section 8.2 of the Currency Act:
- $40 in toonies ($2 coins)
- $25 in loonies ($1 coins)
- $10 in dimes, quarters, or half dollars 
- $5 in nickels
- $0.25 in pennies (even though we don’t make them anymore)

No rule about the coins not being in a “secure” state, like a jar of honey or maple syrup.
