The penalty for shutting the government down should be 1 month without salary for each day it's closed.
@3967703f "I got hired to work at a business, but I don't like some of the services the business is designed to deliver, and there is a bunch of stuff we do that I think we pay too much for, so I'm going to close and lock the doors until the other employees do what I want (which is basically for them to stop working.)" At what point do the owners of said business interrupt with "you're fired"?
@3967703f I saw a few minutes of an interview in which a GOP who was pro shutdown was asked about military employees not getting paid. The GOP dude bought up the fact that many live paycheque to paycheque, but completely dismissed hardship no pay would cause. "Oh well, they'll get back pay when we open again." When asked if he would be paid, he smirked, said yes, that's the way the constitution was written, not his fault. Vile, disgusting, nauseating.
@3967703f I like that idea a lot. A whole lot. But it’d take an act of God to bring that one to fruition.
