When you press the X icon to close a new post, should the app delete that draft or keep it?
Might be cluttering but I personally would prefer a separate button or an option in a triple dot menu to save it as a draft
Option 3 ask of if you want to keep it as draft
Most comments say it should ask. I also think so. Its what people are used to and it also makes sense. If I don't want to post I have to manually delete the draft, otherwise if I wanted to post it's gone when I close it to look something up. If it asks I know what will happen when I close the new post screen.
Get rid of drafts
Likely never going to happen. It's too engrained into everything now.
Why should drafts expire, just let users keep as many as they want.
They don't expire.... 🤔 I am not sure where that is coming from.
This could actually be a feature to auto delete drafts older then 1, 3, 6 months 🤔
By “expire” I meant delete the current draft. Sometimes you accidentally close a post you’re working on if the app refreshes or you exit before posting. I’d like a prompt to explicitly save the draft or delete it.
Why?
Configurable setting.
I like this kind of pools, do more. 🫂💜
Y not ask?
let the user choose the behaviour maybe delete/keep/ask switch?
Always save the draft and add an auto-delete procedure to purge them with a config (1 days -> never, with default at 1 week). The best interfacce is no interface, it cannot break, it doesn't need to be explained, it cannot be misused. PS: In the thread highlight the drafts, for example with a light yellow background, please.
The common ux for deleting stuff is to double confirm, be highly explicit
And how do you keep a draft when you want?
Ideally you'd be able to set what the app does when you close an unposted note. I've never benefited from a draft reply but I've used drafts of new root notes a few times. This has usually been because of a crash or something unexpected like a distraction. I generally put more time & effort into a new note than a reply.
What X icon? I'm using Amethyst 0.92.1-FDROID
new post, top left corner.
Got it
