Proton is one of the best. Interestingly I’m in the camp of “Stop telling me I need a VPN for security”. VPNs are great for obtaining geo-locked content or accessing your home or business LAN, or preventing man in the middle attacks on public wifi, but I’ve never subscribed to the idea that a VPN is going to stop the 14 eyes spying on me. So up to now, I’ve relied on my own Tailscale VPN to get me back to the UK, as I don’t generally wish to access a lot of geo-locked content. This is more of a curiosity exercise than a use case investigation.
