That feeling when your coffee shop #WiFi is 5% the speed of your phone's SIM card. (so why am I here?)

Seems pretty clear we're on the cusp of rarely needing Wifi, even at home. Of course, this is much more likely outside the US as both Europe and Asia have far more advanced mobile networks/pricing.

But this feels like a techtonic shift that will affect all sorts of social patterns (such as coffee shop camping)
@957492b3 That said, for the first time... ever... I connected a fiber ethernet cable to my home computer setup, and holy moly... 🔥
@957492b3 WiFi uses less power and generally has lower latency, so I prefer it over mobile data. Coffee shops can also have areas with poor cell reception where a WiFi router can extend to.

As for coffee shop camping, not sure if it'll change any time soon. Some people just want to get out of their rooms and go anywhere and be among people, even if they remain glued to their laptop/phone.
