 What's up nostr:nprofile1qqsqt0cak3a09qmlpv02qt6vkpj4w4uqrw3f4gm6ug889px987m3cccppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp00mfdv0👋

When they did the Nostr integration I think they had to pull it out to rework it.
Booo. Well let me know if you’re interested in Stacker News!

You can host and do splits on Wavlake, but the recipients would need a Wavlake account, which may not be optimal for you.
@podhome.fm is a great PC 2.0 podcast hosting company.

A few popular Bitcoin podcast are already host there from @Ungovernable Misfits @CITADELDISPATCH @NVK
Yeah I've been hearing a lot of good things about nostr:nprofile1qqsqeg7ch6sgxmjjjp68twy02p53f34r653z0pwl5e78tv9hzzv4xegpzdmhxue69uhkx6r0wf6hxtnsdfmzumt9qy28wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hszgthwden5te0d4uhxct5wvh8s7t69ahx7um5wfex2mrp0yh4yetvv95s4uu08u lately. We currently host our podcast from substack. Any idea how painful it would be to migrate?
No idea but I’ve only heard good things about it after people made the move.

There are other options too but Bitcoiners seem to really like @podhome.fm

https://podcastindex.org/apps?appTypes=hosting
It could be worth putting in a ticket with substack asking to enable podcasting 2.0 before you migrate (for the kids)
Hey @bitpunk.fm any insights on substack podcasting? I know your not using it but mentioned it’s drawbacks the other day.
Yeah idk if I can honestly recommend it to anyone interested in Podcasting 2.0 features.

It's a podcast host in that it will host your rss feed and your audio. But that's it. I don't think you can customize the rss at all. So no chapters for example.

But if you have a substack and want to add a bonus audio thing, I can see it being handy.

For example, some creators are pay walling their podcasts behind substack pay walls.

This is lame. But I'm just stating what people are doing.
If someone takes the rss feed link from a substack and adds it to the podcastindex, does that circumvent the paywall on all apps other than the substack app? Or is the rss feed for a paywalled podcast kept “offline” where it can only be accessed through the substack app

While I wouldn’t recommend using substack to a new user, for current users I would think asking for rss feed customization features prior to migrating off the platform would be an easy thing to do. It would be useful to have one of those premade letters (like people make for asking senators to vote yes or no on something) that has useful links and explains the features that any current substack user could copy and paste with some customization into a ticket. This approach could be used for any legacy platform that could ostensibly add podcasting 2.0 functionality
Regarding the feed I'm pretty sure the answer is yes. I was able for example to import a pay walled feed into podverse for example.

Then yes, maybe no one has asked subatack for PC 2.0 features so maybe this is possible.

Honestly the most advanced thing they can do is just offer a rss snippet editor to customize at the channel/item level.

Castapod does exactly this and it works pretty well.
Just a guess but I don’t think PI would let you add a private feed to the index. Sounds like a problem we would have solved very early on. You can add them into some apps but that’s so you can listen in the app instead of on a platform. I’ve done this with Patreon feeds for years.

You could always ask substack to add features but honestly I wouldn’t hold my breath. If you really want PC 2.0 features that are easy to implement then go with something listed on https://podcastindex.org/apps?appTypes=hosting

I recommend @podhome.fm and RSSBlue @dovydas b/c they are newer companies so they can build on the PC 2.0 spec faster since they are smaller and don’t have years of tech debit.
Thanks for the additional info. The request to substack would be kind of like an exit interview - if there are good notes around enough requests, and they end up with someone in place a year down the line who sees them and knows how to implement the RSS snippet editing, it could end up getting added to the platform and bring a lot of users in.
It’s not a big pain to migrate at all. Podhome is very different from substance of course, as we are a podcast hosting platform. Read more about moving here: https://podhome.fm/docs/move-to-podhome and let me know if you have any questions
I'm pasting my RSS url into the "import an existing show" but it is saying it is getting a 403. When I paste in the browser the feedback comes up.
 Let me take a look.

Substack can be finicky when interacting with it from the backend. I can start the import for you if you want. I’ll set it to private show, so that you can take a look first, and only when you like it, switch that and move to Podhome (only happens when you redirect your feed). Shall I start it?
 Yes please
It’s going. It takes a while today, as it is busy with imports. Sorry about that. We’ll keep a close eye on it
The import is finished. Sorry about the barrage of email notifications. This is a side-effect of us running this from our backend.

Take a look and see if you enjoy Podhome. When you do:
- switch the show to public in your show settings
- redirect your substack feed to your new Podhome feed
-(optional) redirect your wavlake feed to your Podhome feed. This way, everything is in one place and listeners don’t find your show twice.
- set your V4V information in your show settings, as we could not get that from the substack feed

And of course, let me know if you have any questions
And I also see your show as a Wavlake feed. I assume you upload it there as well? https://wavlake.com/feed/show/f113cdad-59f5-4245-a065-3c9bb54f8f52
 Yeah I upload there manually
