Are modern beds a scam? 🛏️ More and more people claim sleeping on the floor is the proper way humans should sleep. Sounds crazy? Well... it should heal all back pain, lead to a stronger body and better posture. Yes, I tried it and it was NOT AT ALL what I expected 😂😂 Full Video: https://youtu.be/ICnLS1BbZ_w https://v.nostr.build/GqEX.mp4
Interesting experiment. I slept on the floor for a summer in college. My mom thought I was crazy, but I felt fine. I will say that my wife had no interest in it, so it was back to the bed for me!
I gotta say I started really enjoying sleeping on the floor. It just sounds weird - the experience is pretty good tbh
And you're sleeping on the hard tile. I did it on carpet that had a thin pad beneath it. Hope it makes you feel awesome.
About to watch the video. I slept for about a week on the floor as a challenge. Would definitely do it again. Let's see if you can convince me to sleep on the floor tonight
Hahaha let me know what you think after watching it 😂 I am actually really curious
Will do! Seems like a good thing to do for Lent. Thank you for making the video, I enjoyed watching it! Hope your leg is better!
@MaxDeMarco I watched the video and slept on the floor last night. I think I'll do it for the next 40 nights
Been sleeping on a Shiki/Tatami mat bed for over half a year now, and it has been great! Definitely took some adjusting, especially once I got buckwheat pillows.
So... you don't have a standing desk?
I am travelling to much.. I can't always take a desk with me 😕
Another thought: Is this better for "grounding" or "earthing?" That also seems to be all the rage, but based on anecdotal evidence, it does seem to work.
No way for me to quantify that but def feels “grounded” waking up
Coincidentally, have been sleeping on the floor (carpeted floor & on a yoga mat, mind you) for a week now and it has been a surprisingly pleasant experience tbh. I literally only had 1 night where I woke up more than once, but also a small caveat, I was jetlagged when I first started this so that probably made the transition easier for me. Anyways, overall I haven't felt huge differences to my physical well-being (although I feel like it might be helping me recover from workouts quicker - but this might be a placebo effect) and my overall need for sleep has been declining for a while now anyways, so I also can't really comment on the validity of that point that much. But since I have no bed nor a mattress ATM and for now, haven't experienced any downsides to sleeping on the floor, I'll continue doing so for the foreseeable future.
I'll try anything. Last night was night 1 of my no more soft bed experiment. I feel far less sore than expected. nostr:nevent1qqsvunw8kjy0gt94uy6tkgc0tp052ruu0q882v7e2xv46vd7ryxstjgppamhxue69uhkummnw3ezumt0d5pzplnld0r0wvutw6alsrd5q2k7vk2nug9j7glxd6ycyp9k8nzz2wdrqvzqqqqqqyjsy3c3
Awesome to hear! Keep me updated on the progress 🤝
Day 2 my sleep quality according to my oura ring was back to normal levels for me, I have long running sleep issues though. Not sure how to describe how I felt this morning. Sore but the sore felt good, I know that doesn't make sense. Kinda like how after a perfect workout you feel tired but the tired feels good. I really felt deeply compelled to move in a positive way. Couldn't wait to get into my morning workout and still feeling good after the workout.
Day 3, best nights sleep I've had in a week according to oura. Kettlebells felt light this morning too. Had that same weird sore but good feeling when I woke up and couldn't wait to get moving and do my workout.
Interesting, but I think without a pillow it would be hard.
I didn't watch the video but I have a personal story to relate. Sometimes my lower back hurts because of sitting in a poor posture. Sleeping on a bed no matter how firm just makes it worse. But sleeping on the carpeted floor fixes it and in the morning I'm magic again. Yes, it hurts to sleep on a hard floor. But my back somehow needs that. I wouldn't do it if it didn't work, and I only do it when my back is hurting.
I can't believe it is good for you.
So glad that someone re-noted this video. First things first: your home is gorgeous. Wonderful video. Educational and vulnerable of you to film it. A dear friend of mine, her daughter has scoliosis and she sleeps on the floor every night.
wtf he's a millionaire! 🤣🤣
I'm a simple man. I see a new Max DeMarco video, and I watch it immediately. nostr:nevent1qqsvunw8kjy0gt94uy6tkgc0tp052ruu0q882v7e2xv46vd7ryxstjgpzpmhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejsyg870a4udaen3dmth7qdksp2meje203qkteruehgnqsykc7vgffe5vpsgqqqqqqs26gjjr

First night on the floor here I come. Curios. GN.
How did it Go?
I woke up 6-7 times during the night and in the early morning hours it became very uncomfortable. My back was hurting in the morning but now it's fine. And my shoulder pain, which I had since weeks, is gone. Overall I'm feeling good and refreshed. Will continue the experiment💪
Side sleeping or back sleeping?
Try using a thinner pillow. I have been sleeping on the floor for the last 2 years and I use a soft travel pillow to sleep on it. Also try to use a carpet or something to separate you better from the floor, if the floor is cold that is not going to be good long term anyway. Your body is exchanging heat with the floor while you are sleeping.
Tried this myself and can approve it! My back feels a lot better after a week on the floor. The crazy thing about it is that everyone I told about my experiment said to me: „yeah I already heard of it, tried it and it helped“ 😅 Even my mother is doing this from time to time. Anyway, I will do this for some more days, but I‘m pretty sure that I will get rid of my mattress in near future.
