I am lucky where I live. We have so many wild type of berries that proliferate. This is evergreen huckleberry they are ripening now but the great thing about this berry is they stay on the vine until at least December and they get better after a frost. I love to make a sauce with these that goes great on salmon. I’ve made ice cream with them. I’ve flavored mead also. This is one of the many reasons why I don’t mess with many of the permaculture shrub recommendations. Most of them are simply just massively inferior to the wild berry species that grow readily under nearly every pine around here. #permaculture #gardening #forage https://m.primal.net/KGsn.jpg
I find myself becoming more curious about what’s surrounding me and what neat and useful things I can do with it!
where do you live? im from Montana, but now live in SW OR and was thinking about growing these...wondering if it is worth a try
