@anime graf mays 🛰️🪐 @Electric Pants :prince_dance: i don't even know what a hetzner is but if some faggot's gonna play janny and mald about how their software's being used, it's a good reminder to stick with stuff that's really FOSS and entirely self-hosted
it's not about them malding about how their shit is being used. because plex is paid-for software, and people are using hetzner paid-for storage servers to run massive piracy groups where people pay for access it becomes an issue for them because DMCA
So Plex is liable for the content others serve using their service?
plex will have to go to court to prove they aren't hosting it to layman. do you want to be a small company paying for lawyers to go and fight that?
@anime graf mays 🛰️🪐 @Electric Pants :prince_dance: pretty much requiring a cloud based account to use was the first red flag, and even having the ability to cut off certain IPs is the second and much larger red flag. i've got a bad feeling about where this is going.
I paid for a lifetime sub for myself and gf. all my shit is stored locally, i rely on nothing and can null plex calling home in the event it gets bad. jellyfin is good for small libraries but when you are talking >20TB or larger it just chokes even on 96 thread servers with NVMe caching
@09085299 @Electric Pants :prince_dance: @anime graf mays 🛰️🪐 I feel smug about using jellyfin from the start now. ABSOLUTELY PROPRIETARY
