What I find baffling is people still falling for the free speech meme on X.

I honestly think a lot of people will just blindly follow along. I don’t know anyone irl here nor on the Fediverse. Most people just don’t seem to value their digital capital that much.

I do think SM will dissipate, we’ve already seen that with Fedi/BlueSky/Threads but a lot of people seem to want the next big thing. 

I’ve been trying to convince my other half for years now and she still uses Meta products and has a lot of her research there. Even this morning I told her about how MTV just deleted their archives. Corporations are ephemeral entities, it’s not the place you want your work stored.

I have no idea what the future holds but I like the potential here, even if it stays small, I probably prefer that tbh  

 There was a time when 'the Facebook killer' was unimaginable. It was unimaginable to have an event and not use Facebook events. People used insta ( I appreciate this is a meta product) but people also just returned to emailing about events. Then people just slowly lost interest in FB really. 

The 'social media killer' could just be disinterest and not another app.
