I was just asking about video hosting. I know there are a bunch of people running media servers, but I think it’s still challenging to get media served in such a censorship resistant way as relays do with simple text messages
Self-hosting a video server goes a long way toward being censorship resistant. We host our own #peertube video server: https://video.retroedge.tech That still depends on the DNS domain name system, but for the foreseeable future, that's fine. I'm looking forward to seeing if nostr can provide an alternative to DNS for self-hosted services.
Can't we just create a nip for video uploads and have a client aggregate all of the video nips? The client could have some sort of blossom or satellite integration for hosting. And a (pay per how much you use" type subscription, for censorship resistant nostr youtube doesn't seem like a bad deal. From my vantage point it doesn't seem like we're too far away, I thought I heard Hazzard speak about assisting or forking flare.pub in the last citadel dispatch episode. (These are just thoughts from a non dev, plate licking pleb, noob btw).
