I don’t really understand the gripes about #nostr “sign up difficulty”, Twitter takes longer to load on a browser, and to sign up you have to put in your whole email then later your phone and face and credit card and go and click all these fake privacy options on or off.
How is that “easier” than downloading damus or primal and doing 2 clicks to make an account? Makes no sense!
the hard part is finding primal when the ecosystem would rather you not
I think the relays and key management are specifically confusing but I see what you saying
Call keys “permanent username” and “permanent password” and nobody needs to know about the relays just remove it from showing on the app 😂
People are not smart.... it's not about the length of the process, it's about how familiar it is.
Conceptually, nostr is very different than X
I don’t think people need to conceptualist a service to use it. (I doubt most of the new blue sky sign ups actually understand it, for example.) People switch from windows to apple all the time and those are far different. I don’t see a damus sign up as any more different from a twitter sign up than a tiktok or instagram sign up is 🤷🏻
You are not wrong, but a more accurate analogy is like switching from Windows/Mac to Ubuntu.
I don't see it difficult either. I think it's the simplest process ever. what comes after the signup is the unclear part.

If someone hacked my account I can't message customer support?

Ah yeah, for sure. Just talking about the initial steps. I think relays should just be hidden and let them learn about account migration on their own when they need to 😂
And let's not get into note edits and deletion.
That's onboarding, creating a key pair is not onboarding.
all the people I helped joined nostr created a key pair and never posted a single note. lol
