Sad fact: #Britain once fought an actual f'ing war to keep Opium exports from India flowing into China. As a result a significant portion of the population of China was literally addicted to narcotics for years until the government finally banned it and instituted forced abstinence on the victims.

China has not forgotten this national tragedy and the memories of that is central to the currently rising tide of anti-Western sentiment in the country today.

that China (Qing dynasty) is long gone. The current regime in the mainland cant even its last 70 years straight and a terrible track record for long-term planning🤦 , how are they expected to settle a grudge from centuries before? Giving them too much credit

Chinese history is never-ending civil war(分久必合,合久必分, observing from across the Strait cant see how history wont repeat itself.
Perhaps, but do not underestimate the staying power of a grudge, even an irrational one.

Especially not when it is a maintained notion in the halls of power in the PRC.
 do not overestimate lip service
Indeed. It is certainly being used to power the Beijing agenda in a form of centrally dictated populism, so not all of it is genuine, and I personally do not believe that Chinese people in general hold a grudge against Westerners.

We shall see where it leads in time.
yes, as a people in china, we don't hate anyone.

but some people is misleaded by CCP, hate some west country...
if it really is about a grudge they'd be smart about it, arguably the nation-state that has taken the most from China throughout the years would be Russia, not any of the Western Powers 🤷 (I.e. Treaty of Aigun, Peking, etc)
