Definitely. It has helped me in the past to zone out though. When I was unmedicated for my anxiety it certainly helped that some. I've never found it to be all that effective at helping me sleep, but it helps the time pass more smoothly.
Conversely, drinking too much doesn't help me with my brain stuff at all, but it helped me sleep. I don't drink much anymore. Way too easy to abuse.
@c7a5053d never been that into alcohol. Don't like how it impedes me. Cannabis doesn't have that effect on me; either I'll get a full body buzz and my while body tingles or I'll get a a head buzz and think rapid and sometimes nonsensical thoughts. But, it does help me sleep.

I've been told it varies based on strain, but the pot I've smoked has never been identified by strain. I do know I'm a cheap high. One toke and I'm floating on the ceiling. Which is nice, because my tolerance for everything else is super high.
Being drunk is highly overrated, imho. It never helped me escape my problems.
