Most websites have Google Analytics installed to help track their details.

I used to do this. It expired on my website some years ago, so I fixed it.

It then expired again. Always updating their tech. I was too busy to give a fuck that second time, so I still haven’t fixed it. My followers don’t care about Google anymore. And we’re not based on advertisers.

I don’t track numbers on my website anymore. I just post based on vibes. I write what I want to and I observe the feedback on any medium that people provide it. And now there’s Nostr.

So I go on vibes. Not numbers.

 This is the way.
 a very organic approach
 Vibes are high!
I put all my sites behind Cloudflare now because that is the only one with good bot protection and it has analytics built in.
 That’s the way to go
This is the way. Less tracking and more connecting.

You can go off zaps now.
Vibes is how we process more data than any spreadsheet could handle

I cycle from these two modes 🤣

I recently switched to unami. You can even host it from a home server like an umbrel so you don't share the data with any company

I really like nostr version of Lyn
Love the vibe-first approach! It’s refreshing to see someone just going with the flow and connecting in a more authentic way. Numbers are cool, but real engagement and feedback matter more. Keep doing you!
This the the way! It’s refreshing to hear this 🧡
I think if you want Google Analytics without the tracking, Matamo might be an option.
 Absolute based
I use Ackee on my personal website, so I can track which posts are read the most, and how people found my site.

Ackee si a selfhosted tracker, and it does not collect any sensitive information from users. It does not store cookes on users' browser, so it is totally safe. This is the project's website: https://ackee.electerious.com
Yeah, we don’t track our visitors either. We know we’re on the right path. We don’t need Google.
I offer revenue sharing to creators. While I don't need GA to track the revenue, it still seems useful to track the number of readers and provide that to those who contribute, but I'm always looking for other ways to do things...
I consider Google to be a hostile enemy of the human spirit.

Consider them dangerous and actively try and avoid them at all costs.

Their consistent censorship and misalignment of weighted search results should be considered a crime against humanity.

We don't hate Google nearly enough.
Analytics is drugs from hell. I'm sober for 3 years now. Using self-hosted Influx since.
A publisher can infest webpages with any number of trackers - sometimes unknowingly. ... It is for them to make sure they don’t use “plug and play” code - such as Google Analytics. It saves the readers from hidden profiling and pesky advertisements. Freedom is not only a readers’ right, it is also a good design choice - it makes pages load faster.

As a reader , I find “duckduck go” privacy extension verify good . It stops trackers (and cookies) that are there for the sole purpose of profiling, but it allows those needed for the application functions. Not an ideal case but still the best among available options.

Love the way #nostr bot trims the default YouTube shares - to remove the trackers .. have you ever seen it on any other social or messaging app .. kudos #nostr

There's a lot of data capturing for the sake of it, and not using it or needing it going on online, and a lot of people are using the data verbatim and optimising for the wrong things, I see it all the time and honestly those businesses should just go out of business eventually

But I think it depends on the intent of the site, if you're selling online, like an eCommerce site, still benefit massively from some kind of analytics, and that data can be the difference between staying in business and going out of business.

I don't see how analytics is any different from what we did in store watching what people took off the shelves, etc, when I did retail stuff.
Google analytics domains get blocked by most adblockers and anti trackers anyway

 There is a message there…
 Why feed bots at all?

“almost 50% of internet traffic comes from non-human sources”

There are good alternatives that help you understand your impact without tracking every detail of your visitors. I am opposed to GA particularly, but it can help to gain some insights through other tools.
this is very refreshing! I used to feel guilty for not following the Google SEO or any SEO because I feel I had to follow what every gurus on the internet is doing. I even took the time to record a "note to myself" how to set-up my tracking! But at the end of the day, I asked myself, why on Earth am I doing this? I have a website because I want to help people and not because I want to impressed and beat Google's search engine! If it means I reach 1 person then be it! There is no point writing on something to make it viral and I hate what I am writing. No wonder so many "so called influencers" burned out because they no longer follow their passion, they are following the numbers! 🤓 PS. I have Google analytics on mine but I do not review the number so it is useless to me! I follow what is my heart telling me to write!
