Ehh, hmm, I would say they are not really a "thing" that has value, but more a way of interacting with other "things" that do have value. So they register differently in our consciousness.

Interesting. Never thought about it but now that I do I can't recall any dream when I've ever used a phone or laptop and I am using one or both more than 12 hours a day.
