Interesting they make $750k per day from tolls but also fair to ask for compensation when whoever external to your company decides to use your company's resources for a day.

Now they probably don't own the bridge and the marathon might date further back than their concession but then they should have a contract and if that doesn't mention no marathons, it's fair again to ask.
the average daily revenue is actually around 1.6 million.
Makes sense that they would want to maintain the revenue stream to keep up with their expenses, but I would want to see those expenses laid out before agreeing to a price that high. According to the news, the number of runners is 50,000, which means a $15 cost per runner. Given that the bridge brings in around 1.6 million per day in vehicle tolls, that might be considered reasonable.
 tl;dr grift and theft.

I get that. So I think the first step would be to make the finances transparent. I want to see every dollar received and where it comes from, and every dollar spent and where it goes. I want to know where the grift is so we can end it and identify those who should be held accountable for it.
We can do that on a blockchain.
I want to end the grift and theft, not make the claim that infrastructure at that scale has no upkeep expenses.
If you think the State is going to go along with that, I have some swamp land to sell you.

And no, a blockchain does not fix this. It’s an expensive database.
I think we should make it a requirement, not giving "the state" a choice.
How do you propose that gets done?
New York adopts Bitcoin as the medium of exchange, with all tolls paid by lightning network into public wallets that are watched by the watchdogs. It's not difficult, it would just require a complete change in how the local, state and federal government understands money and financing.
And no, I don't expect it to happen peacefully.
Whatever you're smoking, pass me some.
just don't let hatred towards the government we have blind you to the real governance solutions that we need.
The real governance we need is self-governance. The State is a parasite. History and thine own eyes bears this out. Anything else is self-delusion.
no job is too small no tax is too high....
