If you’re feeling sad, depressed, anxious etc… you probably just need to do an hour of cardio.
I have found a little gym that is hardly used. Bliss 🤙
It helps. But also check your mental health.
Unless you have a serious mental health problem. Bipolar, schizophrenia etc… most people can solve their ordinary misery with exercise and nutrition.
Lift heavy things, make voices in head go away
Yes, and strength training may be most important for longevity and higher quality of life as we age.
They’ll die
This is true.
Hodl, people with depression sometimes kill themselves. Depression can be extremely debilitating, telling them to go exercise & it'll fix them is just showing your ignorance about mental health.
My mother was schizophrenic. I know more about mental health than you’ll ever know.
But that's schizophrenia, you were talking about depression. My fathers brother had schizophrenia, he died a homeless drug addict on the streets of Liverpool. My father had severe depression.
Despite your familial experience of depression you don’t seem to be very up to date medically. It is a well known and established scientific fact that exercise treats and/or eases symptoms of depression.
Exercise has always been recommended to lift people up, it's nothing new. Next time you hear someone who is contemplating suicide because of their severe depression make sure to tell them to do do an hour of cardio & they'll be fine.
Absolutely, exercise can be a powerful tool in managing depression. It significantly boosts mood through endorphins and can be a vital part of treatment. While it’s not the only solution, incorporating regular physical activity is tremendously helpful for many people battling depression. It's crucial, though, to combine this with professional guidance and support for the best results.
Yes. Works every time. I’d add that it has to be done outside, in fresh air.
I was a long distance runner for years, could never run on a treadmill. I would run outside through entire Boston winters regardless of temps except when impossible after major snowstorms. On Sundays I'd do 10 or 12 or 14 miles, loved it. Outside is awesome but not in the hot sticky summer so I would just not run at all for three months cos I just can't stand those treadmills!
*Person goes to the doctor because he is feeling down *Doc says you are depressed and puts him on SSRIs *SSRI destroys person’s life. Person is now zombified. Libido and weight destroyed. *Doc hits the quota Antidepressants do not cure anything and actually make your life worse. Addressing the root cause (mostly lifestyle) is hard, but prescribing antidepressants only take 5 minutes. https://image.nostr.build/ca3e0169dfbff55c559b186fd1a90a13dfeff9166cd8ac9f336991e0175319ab.jpg
Doesn't even need to be intense. A hour walk while in the sun does wonders for ones mood
Or just eat some ribeyes and cut out the carbs. Amazing how much better you'll feel when you stop poisoning yourself.
Add to this - do something to help someone else. This has been my hack to improve overall outlook for a long time.
This. I wish more people would cut carbs first. A study in france put a bunch of schizophrenics on keto amd their psychotic symptoms went away. Depression is brain inflammation and ketones are a powerful anti inflammatory.
Top tip!
**sigh** Why try and just fix everything into a box? This post gives me the impression that you enjoy ruffling the feathers of others 🤷♂️✌️
yep... and if you are not a runner - just fast walking / elevating heart rate through breathing is also fine. it's more about changing the environment... and then coming back to where you were with clearer head (you filtered what you can influence, you have let go of what you can't).
Or lift heavy shit. Or do both.
森林浴 Forest bathing

Best I can do is 1x sit-up in the moring.
Yes! Hit cardio !!!!
Magnesium is probably low too.
Or just stop eating plants.
Definitely. I dealt with severe depression and possibly something akin to ptsd from 2103 to 2016. I cured myself by running ultra marathons. If you go to the doctor they will just try to push hard core psych medicine on you instead of just prescribing cardio.
30mins will do the job. Oh and yeah, don't forget to touch the grass and get sun exposure. That's pretty much it.
