didn't check out Olas yet, but Primal now has a similar section gallery called "media" . Difference is you don't choose what goes in, every media you posted is there.
Yes, that's what I wanted to avoid tbh. Olas has a special kind (20) for "high quality content". When you post media from ametyhst from the middle menu, it by now also creates a kind20 event and show up on Olas. You will then have a gallery there with all your kind 20 images (not kind 1 events with images), meaning you can choose what lands in your gallery by opting to use kind 20. You can repost/quote post kind 20 images to appear in the regular feed as well.
I like it, I always prefer more users option-ability, takes time and effort to do it, but as result you have more signal and less noise. Will check Olas 🤙
We need "post to n set of relays (which I've nicknamed <name>" and "read from n set of relays" and we need it yesterday. - post picture to family relays - read from porn relays - post picture to All Etc. This has to be a first-class citizen feature that is normalized in all major Nostr clients. You should always be in "a context" in a Nostr client (even if that context is "all follows" or "global") no matter whether you're reading or writing. This is the missing piece that makes Nostr a social network revolution and its being left on the table. If I had slightly more free time away from work I'd do it myself and still might anyway
what's the difference?
Right now you select images from your kind 1 feeds to add to your gallery. (By going full screen, share -> add to gallery) The other way would be to simply post images in the multimedia tab (in the middle) and these would automatically end up in the gallery and be synced across clients that use NIP68. So kind 1 media (screenshots, shitposts etc) would not end in the gallery but those media files you chose to post in what Olas calls "high quality posts"
Currently there is no way to delete a video from Amethyst gallery. Also would be great if a long press would also allow for copying the url because it seems that the relays don't load the note consistently.
The video thing is a bug that got introduced recently. Sent a PR to fix this.

First we should define the purpose of the gallery, this was never clear for me. Basically curating stuff you want others to see who visit your profile. With content creators in mind. Could be art, memes, photography, whatever you make your profile about.
The galleries tab is not implemented very well/intuitive. I had no idea how it worked. Most are empty. I just added one thing (because, why do I have to add something to it that I already posted?) and then I can do what with it? I couldn't repost or see the link or anything; it just say there.
What galleries is Olas doing? got screenshots and descriptions?
It would look that same as now, but the method to add something to the gallery is different by posting via the media feed (button In the middle).
