 @f8a6718e Yes, 99% of the fascination of these came from finding them out in the world as completely insane-from-the-unknown fully-formed pamphlets. The more you read them, the joy kind of wore off, for sure.

 @82876015 Was surprised to hear they still made them after Chick's death, but without his oddly high quality 60s-horror-comic art it's really not the same and just standard offensive trash

 @f8a6718e Yeah, this was clearly a similar situation to a lot of creatives where you can tell there was a frenzied meeting between a lot of people whose livelihoods depended on the Founder's work and they were not quite sure what to do next, and punted. 

You can see that in Clancy works, L. Ron Hubbard's SF stuff, and so on. They decided to go full steam ahead but Chick had the knack for truly uncomfortable, unsettling choices of topics and writing.
