The challenge is that we've got a normal word hashtag like "food" and then you've got those who will add "str" to everything like "foodstr". I haven't decided yet whether to take the side of legacy language or protocol culture so I end up doubling up nearly every hashtag.
using multiple relevant hashtags isn't hashtag spam, it's when unrelated hashtags are added to get attention for a post 🙂
So where do you stand on the "word" vs "wordstr" hashtag battle? Legacy or culture? Only by taking a stand will one win out. I mean. Do you remember when Flickr came out and then every startup dropped the "e" including Twittr?
yes that was bad... i prefer just the word, because it's easier to guess

a hashtag is already distinct from the word so there's no need to add anything

that said, there is a subtle difference in that people are using hashtags as kludge stand-in for communities, so say, "bookstr" means "this is a post to the nostr books community" and not just "this is a post about books"
