I’m a simple Kat. I see hashtag spam, I mute person forever.

… until some client wipes my mute list 😆
Or some bot becomes multibots. 💀
Mute them all at once 🪄
Will have to figure that out. It's fucking annoying. I really hope whoever does it gets hemorrhoids
 😆
Everytime you mute a bot an angel gets its wings.
 I’m probably already muted, huh.

Are hashtags pointless on here or do they help people find content they’re interested in?

Is this note I posted doing the hashtag “spam”?:

No you’re not. Hashags are fine and helpful when they are relevant and limited to 1-3. Some people put 10 hashtags that are not even related to their note just to increase their visibility. It’s lame. Best to stick to a few relevant ones.
 Matches my take on it.

I’m not muted!…

Me … as a person who often keyword tags. When is it right vs wrong to tag? Or broadly asking …What is considered hashing spam?
The challenge is that we've got a normal word hashtag like "food" and then you've got those who will add "str" to everything like "foodstr". I haven't decided yet whether to take the side of legacy language or protocol culture so I end up doubling up nearly every hashtag.
using multiple relevant hashtags isn't hashtag spam, it's when unrelated hashtags are added to get attention for a post 🙂
So where do you stand on the "word" vs "wordstr" hashtag battle? Legacy or culture? Only by taking a stand will one win out. I mean. Do you remember when Flickr came out and then every startup dropped the "e" including Twittr?
yes that was bad... i prefer just the word, because it's easier to guess

a hashtag is already distinct from the word so there's no need to add anything

that said, there is a subtle difference in that people are using hashtags as kludge stand-in for communities, so say, "bookstr" means "this is a post to the nostr books community" and not just "this is a post about books"
