I'm narrating a 30-minute video about money, and it's clear why I didn't narrate my full book Broken Money myself (and instead got @TheGuySwann to do it. It's very hard, and my voice is particularly boring when reading.

In the near future, I think AI will be good enough that it can learn someone's voice and then provide top-tier narration. And for example it could be told, "alright that's good, but make it 50% more charismatic. Make it sound like Lyn is at least trying." and it'll be able to do that.
Poor @TheGuySwann being thanked for his work and losing his job in the same note.

I kid of course. 🤣
If there’s anyone who can see how AI is transforming industries @TheGuySwann is on it.
Haha, don’t worry I’ve been seeing that coming for quite a while. In fact I’ll probably be the first to have a complete replacement for my voice and really good acting/tonality. The tools aren’t there yet but I’ve been playing with some awesome stuff. 🤣

I also won’t stop the show either. I get as much out of reading the articles as anyone does hearing them.
😂 glad it made you laugh. It was only intended as a joke.

I’m sure you will be more than just fine.
And I don’t think AI will ever be able to do justice to the 15 minute tangential rabbit hole rants that makes your pods so good.
 Or you can try this

Yeah, they are probably the best text to speech AI right now.
I love hearing your voice on various podcasts!

Saying that... @TheGuySwann has a great voice and I bet it works very well for a whole book.

Haven't got the audio yet.. Do I need a 4th version of your book? I think yes 😂
I agree, and I think that will be great. When I'm feeling particularly optimistic, I think these technologies and the timing are going to work out well for what I'm working on.

Write the book with AI assistance for grammar and research.
Use AI image generators to help flesh out the characters.
AI voice to narrate.
Image to video to bring the characters and scenes alive.
Maybe even code assistance to build games from the content.

It really feels like it's going to be possible for a person to turn an idea into a movie at some point.
That is already here for the past year There was a channel narrated by David Attenborough and it was narrating lore from Warhammer 40K. It was such a blissful experience to listen, than they sent an official warning to channel and he removed all of his videos 😔

Now narrating again with a generic voice but the listening experience is nowhere as good as it was.
LOL Too busy trying to understand and remember what you are saying, don’t notice.
50 percent more of 0 is still 0...
You need to work in some impressions and or accents like Guy
Oh you don’t even know. My next projects are going to have individual character voices for each quote or excerpt. I finally got all the pieces to make that consistent and quick I think. It’s kinda nuts. I get to be the voice actor for an unlimited number of characters.
Wonder if you can get audio samples of the people you quote in your podcast and have your AI voices sound like them..... 🤔
Yes. I’m already doing it 😆

Literally just haven’t published anything public with it. But it’s far faster to pull that off than you think. The only problem is getting a quality sample. But at the same time, sometimes a bad option that has a particular aesthetic (like distant audio classroom lecture quality) actually helps with the distinction of the content. So often times even that doesn’t matter.
Perhaps all you need to do when narrating is just channel Nostr Lyn!
 When audio?
Nothing wrong with acknowledging weaknesses. Guy is a great choice
 Dry Lyn & Tonic
I do not think your voice is boring and I highly suspect this is the very common phenomenon where everyone hears their own voice differently than others do.

For instance, I was doing the podcast for over a year before I didn’t hate listening to myself. I didn’t even review my own episodes before publishing. Now it doesn’t bother me, but I’m 5+ years in now of doing it every day 😆

But that said, it isn’t as easy as it seems from the outside. It’s very often a pain in the ass and takes a huge amount of time.
Listening to your voice is one thing, but the subtle differences of you speaking while having a live conversation or being interviewed is entirely different than dictating written text and making it sound convincing and engaging. It takes a special skill to bring something written/static to life, which you’ve clearly honed over time and executed well. Lyn’s ability to understand concepts so deeply that she can think on her feet and open the spigot, delivering on the fly verbal responses and arguments is amazing, but an entirely different skill set. Kudos to you both.
Yeah I generally like how my podcasts go but reading in a charismatic way is not my forte.
 stay humble, as they say
I love Guy's narrative, he understands Lyn's points and he narrates with a good rhythm
good voice actors get paid serious money and for a good reason. as in any field there is quite a gap between pros and amateurs. if something looks easy chances are it's because you never tried it.
you can create your personal voice on ios 17 under settings-accessibility-personal voice. It will only take maybe 20 minutes where your read a150 random phrases for training, then let the phone plugged in overnight, then you can let it read any text you type when you enable “live speech”. usually it’s triple-click the power button to activate it.

It will sound almost like your own voice!

I haven’t found a way to use it for the “spoken content” voice though, maybe in a later version of ios? or does anyone know how?
Does @TheGuySwann go off on Guy’s takes in the middle of narrating Broken Money? Trying to figure out if that would be a win or not 🤔😂
Make it sund like Lyn had 4 beers. The future is bright :)
AI aside, I like the natural reading because you can tell when they take small breaks, or if they've got a frog in their throat or if they smile while reading. AI might capture those things I guess, but I like the idea that someone is there reading it to me. I like being read to, not just hearing it.
when chip? y am i laughing Lyn?
 i probably shouldn't laugh (o_O)
I’d have thought “Lyn is at least trying” to be the minimum default lol
 So you’re saying… @TheGuySwann is out of a job???
your “boring” voice does a good job of personifying your actual neutrality in your analytical writings. it’s a feature and not a bug.
