All for anonymity, but as much as possible, I'd love to know who I'm speaking to, but I understand that anonymity may be our last firewall against tyranny.
 That and jury nullification.
I never reveal my identity in public, online forums. Most of my mutuals on social media feel the same way. I've seen too many people suffer discrimination as a result of their political speech, and there's no way I could fully exercise my right to speak my mind without fear of retaliation in the real world. I'm surrounded by petty tyrants who would absolutely cause me suffering if they knew what I really believed.
I understand what you mean, I used to explain Bitcoin (and why the altcoin of the day sucked) to noobies with a anon acc on Bitcoin Groups on FB
Often getting in to arguments with shitcoiners trying to convince the noobies oftheir coin... Usually after realizing they didn't have any winning arguments they ended the conversation with something like "why should we listen to you, you don't even have the balls to show your face"
To witch I always answered "it doesn't matter who I am, what matters is what I say/do"

Yes, definitely not a reason to discard any argument. Good arguments are good regardless of the messenger or lack of it.
