People ask me what this t-shirt means. Now I can tell them that it means Durov didn't build it right.

 Satoshi knew 😉
Genuine question. Have been thinking about this lately, if they can not go to a specific leader or entity of an organization. Will not they go directly to the users right away, regardless of how decentralized the system is? In that sense the companies serve as a buffer.

If not what is left is anonymity.
No, look at the way torrent networks have been holding up against attack by the State. Risk is pushed out to the edges and it becomes prohibitively expensive to shut these networks down.
I think I grasp the idea, will look further into that! 🤙
If such scenario should arise, we could merely hope to be on the right side of history in response to a high level attack.
No, they'll go to the node operators next. Individual users are last on their list, too numerous and too difficult to identity (in case of anons). Also, depending on jurisdiction, they may be protected by freedom of speech laws, which are a last line of defense after Terms of Service fail them.
All for anonymity, but as much as possible, I'd love to know who I'm speaking to, but I understand that anonymity may be our last firewall against tyranny.
 That and jury nullification.
I never reveal my identity in public, online forums. Most of my mutuals on social media feel the same way. I've seen too many people suffer discrimination as a result of their political speech, and there's no way I could fully exercise my right to speak my mind without fear of retaliation in the real world. I'm surrounded by petty tyrants who would absolutely cause me suffering if they knew what I really believed.
I understand what you mean, I used to explain Bitcoin (and why the altcoin of the day sucked) to noobies with a anon acc on Bitcoin Groups on FB
Often getting in to arguments with shitcoiners trying to convince the noobies oftheir coin... Usually after realizing they didn't have any winning arguments they ended the conversation with something like "why should we listen to you, you don't even have the balls to show your face"
To witch I always answered "it doesn't matter who I am, what matters is what I say/do"

Yes, definitely not a reason to discard any argument. Good arguments are good regardless of the messenger or lack of it.

His ego is his Achilles heel, the need to be the face of the project
 Samurai dudes in utter disbelief
 YESS!!
 Best SEC shirt.
