The #Tories can call an election today if they wanted.

The #UK has had enough! THIRTEEN YEARS of Austerity, under investment, #Brexit, Doris, their pathetic #COVID response,   #PartyGate #CostOfLivingCrisis #ToryCorruption #LizTruss #Inflation #InterestRates #Mortgages & decimating #Pensions

The UK electorate want & deserve a chance to determine our way forward, hence why we demand a #GeneralElectionNOW
 @0f342e77 But why would they want to?
 @2fd63806

They don't because the writing's on the wall.

However, the #Tories dress them drawing out their rule as being best for #Britain when it's clearly about political survival.

If they gave a shit about the #UK, they'd listen to the electorate & allow us to choose our way forward.

The fact they're refusing to call an election is political selfishness & mendacity of the highest order.

We want a #GeneralElectionNOW

 @0f342e77 True. The core issue is that politics and government have conflicting objectives. (And essential qualities) Success in one all but guarantees incompetence in the other.
 @2fd63806

Politics sets out with the best of intentions, until desperate politicians bastardise everything to retain power by any means necessary.

However, we're stuck with politics so we've just gotta hope that those who've climbed the greasy pole do the best for us once they reach the top.

Some see it as voting for the least worst option, but I prefer to look at it as voting for those who come closest to my personal, political ideals.
 @0f342e77 @2fd63806 be careful what you wish for. No matter how much we hate what the Tories have done, is there really a political party out there with enough strength to run the country any better? The really disappointing thing for me, is the lack of a viable opposition. Devil and deep blue sea.
 @2e42eda5 @2fd63806

Yes. Sir Keir #Starmer & his #Labour party.

The 19% average poll lead over the last 12 months illustrates the majority of the #UK believe this to be the case too. 🤷🏾‍♂️
 @0f342e77 @2fd63806 agreed but we all know about the deep tensions within the Labour Party and must question if they are equipped and suitable to lead the country.
 @2e42eda5 @2fd63806

The deep tensions are overstated. Some form of tensions exist in ALL political parties.

The far left are so splintered, they can't form one coherent party, hence the NIP.

There remains a tiny contingent of #FarLeft #Corbynistas in #Labour who don't have the courage of their convictions to move on.

BUT, they're so insignificant, they're mostly ignored on the very rare ocassions they do pipe up.

They're not a major issue. It's those who've left making the most noise. 🤷🏾‍♂️
 @2e42eda5 @0f342e77 The Labour party despite its frailties is our only hope. In its current guise it is broadly humane, rational and well intentioned. Wisdom is a scarce resource all round.
 @2fd63806 @2e42eda5

Of this we can both agree. There is no perfect party, but for me #Starmer & #Labour come closest to my political ideals.
