Soon… our client has a mode similar to this. 

 @Nostur has a low data mode w/o loading pics 

 I use amethyst this way on mobile but it still ate most of my traffic. I don't believe that jpgs are the reason why nostr is so data-heavy.

 I’ve been after this for a year.
The best way I’ve found to reduce mobile data is to run a proxy like @ben ‘s  https://github.com/bndw/nostr-relay-proxy/blob/main/README.md

 Im with you. The images are a distraction. Im working on a nip29 group chat client and it will def have a text only mode.
