My top goal in life is to be a great dad. To do so I must work to provide, but more importantly, be present to parent. Any time I spend working for fiat is inflated away. Thats time I could spend with my kids. Inflation is time away from my kids. Fuck that.
Agreed! Being a great dad is #1. Early on I’ve always had the attitude of…if I say yes to something I’m saying no to my son. It better be worth it for me to say yes.
There is a big take away here. People under-understand the fact that the current system takes our time in exchange for inflatable money. The rich have all the time in the world because we all work for them. The system is the sickness. Private dictatorship of the work force. They also control the government which they pay (bribe) to enforce their products. They are all golfing and sipping champagne while we toil away. But yeah thats freedom, democracy and capitalism! Actually its just capitalism. Think about that a little longer. Time is the most precious asset you have. And you're getting airmiles from private kings and queens while they take it from you. Tik Tok, Next Block.
Was just talking to someone who just had a kid. Mom wants to stay home and be with the kid but they can’t afford to live on one income. It’s what the boomers normalized for us but it’s a terrible way to live. In some ways Covid was a blessing as it forced normalization of WFH. It’s been great for families. I love that I can go play with my toddler, even for a few mins between calls. Just being present is huge and I can’t imagine being out of the house from 7-7, and basically missing my kids’ entire day.
