 @03a95182 Yeah. The porting pain seems to be something Apple’s at least paying lip service to fixing now.  But, in dreamland, Metal is just so much friendlier to code for that the combined Mac, iPhone, iPad, Vision ecosystem is large enough to finally justify studio investment vs afterthought.  A REALLY quick look suggests about 50 million PS5’s so far and ~110 million network users overall.  Obviously, those are ‘pure gamer’ numbers but they’re still dwarfed by Metal’s TAM and console’s are hard. 
 @1eec8cc4 During the discovery phase of the Epic trial, it was revealed that Apple makes more money annually on games sold through the App Store than Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony, and Activision - COMBINED. 
 @03a95182 Wow! I mean, it kinda makes sense… but wow.  Given the costs to get into console dev and what has to be a nightmarish customer support environment for PC games, it’s kinda baffling (and likely down to the GPU issue maybe?) that Mac gaming is such a AAA wasteland. The ‘Apple’s App Store Cut” thing seems a spurious explanation given the percentages involved on consoles, Epic and Steam. 
 @1eec8cc4 Mac users don't buy enough games so publishers don't make them. Publishers don't make enough Mac games so Mac users don't buy them.
