I have mixed feelings about the method but you can open a person's profile and follow all their follows, and then curate.

In the end I didn't enjoy this, and would have rathered aggressively follow anyone who seems of interest, then curate.

For me, I followed all of nostr:nprofile1qydhwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnwdaehgunfvd5x2uewdaexwtcpzemhxue69uhhqatjwpkx2un9d3shjtnrdakj7qg5waehxw309aex2mrp09skymr99ehhyee0qqsqfjg4mth7uwp307nng3z2em3ep2pxnljczzezg8j7dhf58ha7ejge8xahm  follows. 

 That was a great idea! I went through his follows manually and was able to get a bunch that I know I want to follow from there.

 Another method I like is: when you find a note you feel is zapworthy, make sure you follow everyone who zaps it too.
