That is messed up. Your place sounds like mine, only difference is that we're "unionized" (hard to call it a union when they took shares of company stock when they arranged 8 plants to go union at once.) and have a contract that prevents pay cuts. CEO at the time we unionized took a huge bonus and retired right after that... 

 No union for me, not that it would change much 

 Tbh, most of them ​are just rackets now anyway. 
I'd say if you could start a business of your own that you could enjoy, this might e a good time. 

 Got a few side hustles making content on various platforms, handful of subscribers so far, won't be able to live off it anytime soon but I'm enjoying it for now
