I’m interested in the Nostr tribe thoughts regarding visiting the grave of a loved one. Do you visit often? Is it important in your eyes to do so?
No I don’t. I don’t believe that anything other than a body remains there, they are long gone from this world. I think graves are just ways for the living to keep mourning and to make them feel better about themselves that they are remembering that person. I much prefer the photo frames that I have with my loved ones that have passed to be in a place where I see them most of the time and grateful for them as I hold them in my heart.
This is a completely personal metric. People grieve differently, so you should go when you feel the need (not when you think other people think you should go). Past the grieving stage is “paying respects”. But same advice: go when you feel the need. Anniversaries, birthdays, or holidays like Memorial Day are good times to work into your annual rhythms. That’s a good time to do some maintenance too.
I never have. They've always been cremated. We just keep photos up. None of my relatives have died in America yet.
i would say that a grave is like a point of connection. a place where, if you go, you can do meditation with a particular group of thoughts in mind. sometimes people visit meaningful places through do the same. you can have a look to this video (this YouTube channel is awesome, has plenty of interesting content). https://youtu.be/4unDD4OUUNQ?si=s_8BKjc3WqDmWSeE
