OK, now am I doing it right?

I proceeded to put hot peppers in the bottom but was too lazy to snap another picture. 🤣

If you put hot peppers in with strawberries, do you get spicy strawberries? I was always afraid to put something like fruit in with aromatic things like peppers or garlic.
 Apparently not.

I was careful to put the peppers on the bottom so I didn't get any hot pepper seeds mixed in with my strawberries or tomatoes.

It wasn't until they had been going for a few hours that it occurred to me that there might be a problem. Yay for unintentional science experiments! 🎉
Some sweet and spicy can be good. Who knows, spicy strawberries might be tasty.

I'm glad things turned out as you desired.
Are ya freeze drying that fruit?
 Nope, dehydrating it.

Similar effect, but freeze drying requires far more expensive equipment. On the flip side it also keeps longer.
