Apparently not.

I was careful to put the peppers on the bottom so I didn't get any hot pepper seeds mixed in with my strawberries or tomatoes.

It wasn't until they had been going for a few hours that it occurred to me that there might be a problem. Yay for unintentional science experiments! 🎉 

 Some sweet and spicy can be good.  Who knows, spicy strawberries might be tasty.
